Privacy Policy

Prepiva is a meal-planning and grocery-list app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

What we store

• Without an account (guest mode): your meals, meal plans and grocery lists are stored only on your device. Nothing is saved on our servers.
• With an account: we store your email address, display name, and your app data (meals, meal plans, grocery lists and preferences) so it can sync across your devices. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes — we never see or store your actual password.
• Sign in with Google: we receive your name and email address from Google to create or link your account. We do not access anything else in your Google account.

Recipe scanning and importing

When you scan a recipe photo, paste recipe text, or import a recipe link, that photo or text is sent to OpenAI's API to extract the recipe, and is subject to OpenAI's data handling terms. We don't store the photos you scan. Nutrition lookups query the USDA FoodData Central public database using ingredient names only.

Voice input

When you add groceries by voice, the app records audio only while you hold the microphone open. The recording is sent to OpenAI's API to be converted to text, and is subject to OpenAI's data handling terms. We don't keep the recording — it is discarded as soon as the text comes back, and only the resulting item names are added to your list. The microphone is never used in the background.

Dish photos and meal suggestions

• Dish photos: to illustrate a meal, we send the dish name and its main ingredient names (never anything about you) to OpenAI's API to generate a photo. Generated photos are kept in a shared library keyed by dish name so the same dish never needs generating twice — they are not linked to you or your account.
• Meal suggestions: when you ask for meal ideas, the request you type and the names of meals you already have are sent to OpenAI's API to generate suggestions. No account or personal details are included.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share your personal information with advertisers.
• We don't show ads or use third-party tracking.
• We don't collect your location.

Cookies

If you create an account, we use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in. That's the only cookie the app sets.

Shop Online

The Shop Online feature opens supermarket websites (Woolworths, Coles, IGA) in your browser. Anything you do on those sites is covered by their own privacy policies.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and everything synced to it directly in the app: open Settings → your account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and removes your account details along with all meals, plans and grocery lists stored on our servers. Data saved on your own device stays on your device, and can be removed at any time by clearing the app's browser data. You can also email us at the address below and we'll delete your account for you.
